Christmas 2009

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
I can't believe Christmas has come and gone again. We were able to spend the holidays in Richfield with the whole Brown Family (minus Jeffrey who is on his mission) 17 people in all. We started off the adventure traveling down to Richfield on Tuesday in the middle of a snow storm. Unfortunately the snowplows were not in a huge hurry to get to Richfield like we were. By the time we got to Scipio we realized we were not going to make it so we spent a long TV-less night at the Scipio Super 8 Hotel praying and hoping that they would get the roads plowed by the morning! We finally did make it down to Richfield the next morning and definitely enjoyed our vacation there!
Christmas Highlights 2009!
Paxton was sleepy and hungry for the first part of opening presents but once he got a bottle from dad he was excited and ready to go!
He got a ton of presents his favorite being this jumparoo from his Grandma and Grandpa! We were totally spoiled this year. Andy got a Wii and accessories as well as a shop vac, tools, and a ton of other stuff. I got a shark steam mop, carpet cleaner, CD player for my kitchen, a few pairs of new shoes and a ton of other stuff...
Paxton got a whole load of presents!!
We enjoyed spending time with the fam including all of the Brown cousins!
*Sidenote-Paxton and his cousin Mana are 2 1/2 months apart Paxton being older, we weighed them at my dad's clinic while we were down there and Mana outweighs Pax by about 7 ounces and they are pretty close to the same height.

We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas as much as we did ours!!

1st Christmas

I always love to look at old pictures of Andy and I at the stages that Paxton is in now and compare who he looks like. Here are pictures of each of us on our 1st Christmas!

Getting Ready for Christmas...

Early in December we decided to buy our first fake Christmas tree and get the house all set up for Christmas...of course we had quite a bit of help from this little guy!
He wanted to eat the ornaments! Tackle Santa!
And open the presents!
During the middle of December my friend Cathy got married in the SLC Temple. I always love to see the tree in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
Paxton also got to meet Santa for the first time this year. The first time he met Santa, at the Hamberlin Family Christmas Party, he was not super impressed and cried. I had my sister bring him to school to try again and this time he was pretty happy...could have been all the kids talking to him or maybe that this Santa had such a familiar voice (it was Andy's best friend Landon. He kept looking around like "I know this voice but where is Uncle Landon?")

Our Crazy Week

We have had a crazy week at our house!! 2 weeks ago our washer broke (totally my fault) but I am a freak when it comes to doing laundry and not being able to do it on my scheduled day was a little hard on me.
Then we get this...

We were a little unprepared for the first big snow storm of the year. We should have known it was going to hit us hard because we live so close to the canyon but we didn't. On Tuesday morning (after about 12 inches of snow) I could not get my car out of the driveway so Andy got to stay home from work with Paxton so that could go to work. Then on Friday I was so excited because our washer was getting fixed that morning but then we woke up to no water and frozen pipes. $200, 20 minutes, and a hole in the wall later we finally had water!
Luckily the week ended with the always entertaining Meyer Family Christmas Party! Here are some pictures from the big event!

The Prize Table...really a bunch of junk but the little kids LOVE it!

5 Months Old

Paxton turned 5 months old on Saturday...it is crazy how fast time flies by. He is currently weight in at 16 pounds (34%) and is 26 inches long (48%). He is growing up so fast!! Here are some pictures of us from the family Christmas party over the weekend and Pax and dad getting ready for church this morning!

During this past month Paxton has discovered some new things!
  • His voice...I think that all the moaning and groaning from when he was sick has taught him to love the sounds of his own voice. Unfortunately now it just comes out in a high pitched whine/screech.
  • His toes...he loves to play with his toes but can't quite get them up to his mouth yet.
  • Sitting up...he is trying to learn to sit up. He has good balance but can't get up straight.

We are so excited to be able to spend Christmas with our little guy...I'm sure he won't get that spoiled...

Rice Cereal

Against doctors orders (he told us to wait until 6 months) we decided to let Paxton have his first taste of rice cereal or formula by spoon as I like to call it. Needless to say he wasn't too impressed with the first taste (as you can see below) but he likes it more and more each time we let have some!!

Enjoy the video footage of the very first bite!! Paxton loves to watch this video of himself and licks and smacks his lips everytime we watch it!

"Happy" Thanksgiving

Well since my family was in Texas and it was Andy's family's off year we got to spend Thanksgiving together as a family of 3 this year. Since my laziness won over and I was not about to cook a whole Thanksgiving dinner for 2 people we decided to go to Golden Corral instead. Good plan...NOPE!! Not only did we not even dare take Paxton out of his car seat...
We had to wait in line to get a table with about 500 of Utah's finest and then by the time we got to eat what do you know...no turkey, no stuffing, no sweet potatoes, and no pie. We spent $30 to eat tacos, macaroni and cheese and some ice cream.
Although it wasn't the best Thanksgiving dinner ever at least we got to spend it together as a new family of 3 and for that we are forever grateful!!

SIDENOTE: Paxton is still sick...his nose is still stuffy at night and in the morning and now he has a deep cough. Our doctor is out until Monday...any suggestions?

The Enemy

We have a new enemy in our house...Poor Paxton is one sick little boy...I know he doesn't really look like it in this picture but believe me he is sick!! Stupid stuffy nose...I swear if we have to suck that thing out one more time we are going to go crazy!
I think that he doesn't mind it too much (besides the nose sucker) he does get extra baths, extra naps, extra attention, and gets to sleep in mom and dad's room again!
POOR BOY!!

4 months

We took Paxton to his 4 month doctors appointment today. He now weighs in at 14 pounds 10 ounces (50%) and is 25 1/8 inches (60%) tall. I can't believe how fast these past 4 months have flown by! Paxton has grown up so much during the past month, here are some of the new things that he is doing and some of his new favorite past times...

He has learned how to hold his own bottle...both with his hand and with his strong mouth!

He loves his little playmat and got really excited when we put a mirror on it! He loves to look at himself in the mirror and thinks he is pretty cool. He talks to himself and laughs at himself...we love to watch him. He also loves to play with the animals that hang down. He thinks it is pretty fun to lick them and chew on them.

He has found his hands and his tongue...he loves to chew on his hands and lick anything in sight whether it is his toys, his hands, our clothes or our arms!

Here are some of the other milestones that Paxton has reached...
Well maybe not milestones but it is what it is!
  • Paxton LOVES rap music!! If he is whining all Andy has to do it play some rap music on his phone and Paxton is instantly satisfied.
  • Paxton LOVES to take a bath and tries to splash his Dad every time.
  • Paxton is getting pretty good at turning over from his stomach to his back and will roll from his back to his stomach with a little help.
  • Paxton is getting very vocal!! He will coo, smile, laugh, and blow raspberries for anybody that will pay attention to him!
  • Paxton loves to read books! We read everyday and he is starting to reach towards certain pictures or textured parts of the page.
  • Paxton is so good at recognizing our voices. If I am talking to Andy on the phone and Pax starts crying, I will hold the phone up to his ear to let Andy talk to him and Pax will stop crying and look around trying to figure out where Andy's voice is coming from.
  • Paxton's eyes are definitely going to be brown but we are still waiting to see what color his hair decides to be!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!!
Of course we can't let a holiday or special occasion go by without a little photoshoot!
Here are some cute pictures of our little puppy!!

We went trick or treating with Andy's sister Anita and her family. Andy and I decided we better dress up and since it was a game day we didn't have a hard time throwing some "costumes" together!
Apparently Paxton was not a huge fan of trick or treating,
I hope next year he will enjoy it a little bit more!

What do you think?

Our little stinker is 3 1/2 months old now and getting more and more handsome everyday! Like most new parents Andy and I frequently have the discussion about who he looks more like. From the beginning I have always thought that he looked so much like Andy...but now we are not so sure!

Weekends at the Hamberlin House

This is what you can usually find my boys doing every weekend in the fall!

Week of Firsts

This week was a week of "firsts" for Paxton!! We finally moved him from the bassinet in our room to his own bed. I'll admit a little tear was shed (like the day I packed up all his newborn clothes) but I think he actually slept better in his crib then he did in our room...maybe because he didn't have to listen to the snoring! He finally mastered rolling over from his belly to his back...I guess our days of tummy time are over!
Our baby is growing up!

3 Months

Our sweet little boy is 3 months old today...I can't believe how fast time has gone since he was born. He currently weighs 14 pounds (75%) and is 24 inches long (58%). He has changed so much in the past month. Here are some of the new things that Paxton is doing...

He is starting to learn to roll over. When he is laying on his belly he can get half way over and then he needs a little help. He did roll over all the way by himself once and we were lucky enough to get it on camera! Here is the evidence...

Paxton is definately a Daddy's boy! 2 weeks ago in church he was whining through Relief Society (a weekly occurance) and Pax and I were walking the halls trying to get him to sleep...as soon as he saw his dad he stopped whining instantly! They are definately 2 peas in a pod!

Paxton has such a fun personality! He is always smiling and laughing. He loves to play with his dad. Here is one of their favorite games!

Some other fun things about Paxton...
He is definitely our child...he is a night owl and lately won't go to bed until around midnight then he wakes up to eat around 6:30 and goes right back to bed until we wake him up.

He is still wearing size 2 diapers and 3 month clothes.

He likes to be where we are...if we are eating dinner at the table, he wants to be in his chair right there with us!

His new love...TV...I know pathetic that our 3 month old LOVES TV! Sometimes if we are playing with him and the TV is on he will get bugged and squirm around until we move so he can see the TV.

His hair is getting a little bit more red every day and his eyes are turning hazel.

WE LOVE OUR PAXTON!!

Fall

Like many people, Fall is my favorite season of the year! There are so many things I love about Fall! Here are just a few...
FALL DECORATING
I don't really get into holiday decorating (except for Christmas of course) but I love fall decorations. No this is not my house nor is it the best picture but you get the idea...
FALL FOODS
I LOVE fall foods, mmm hot chocolate, pumpkin pie, apple crisp, soups...my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

FALL LEAVES
Now that we live so close to the canyon we can drive up and look at the leaves anytime. We took a little Sunday drive up the Nebo Loop last week and I could not believe how beautiful the leaves were.
FALL CLOTHES

I know you were probably thinking, a whole post without a picture of Paxton...not a chance! I love fall and winter clothes so much better than summer clothes! I especially love that you have an excuse to be curled up on the couch in a blanket...at the Brown house we do that all year long...at least when it's cold you don't have to think of a good excuse.
This picture was from our annual trip to Midway last weekend...we were excited to get Pax dressed up in his winter clothes but the weather was great so he didn't need them!

HALLOWEEN
And last but not least...I love fall for Halloween. It was never my favorite holiday but thanks to Andy's great taste in Halloween costumes, I think I have a whole new reason to love Fall!!
Don't worry Paxton really does love his costume even though he doesn't look like it in this picture...more Halloween pictures to come in a month!!

2 Months Old

Paxton turned 2 months old on September 12th...I can't believe how fast time flies. We took him to the doctor for his 2 month check-up. Our big boy currently weights in at 11 pounds 13 ounces (55%) and is 22 and 3/4 long (50%). Andy, Paxton, and I all survived the first set of shots and are glad we have a few months to go for the next set! Here are a few thing about Paxton at 2 months!

*He is such a cute boy and smiles and coos all of the time
*He is happiest in the morning when he first wakes up
*He is sleeping through the night...Wahoo!!
*He loves TV and lights
*He already has a preference for blankets and will only sleep with his fuzzy blankets
*He loves his vibrating chair
*He is wearing 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers...not for long at the rate he is going!

WE LOVE OUR LITTLE MAN!!
