Paxton's New Moves

We have never been big Dancing with the Stars fans in our house but tonight, with absolutely nothing else on, we found ourselves loving the dancing...not from the stars but from this little man!

Nothing like 2 hours of "donce" as Paxton calls it, to keep his parents highly entertained and more importantly to wear a little boy out for what will hopefully turn into a long nights sleep! I think we are definitely going to be tuning in every Monday night from now on for a little more "doncing"!

Happy Birthday Andy!!

Andy and Jacob celebrated their 34th birthday on March 10th! As you can see they were pretty excited about it!! We celebrated with some cake, ice cream, Uno and a late night Beto's run!
It was a great night!
Happy Birthday Honey, we love you and wish you many many many more birthdays!

Getting Ready for Baby...

We have been busy getting ready for the new baby to come to our house. I'm sure Paxton has no idea that a baby is really coming to his house but he is still pretty into babies these days. He gets pretty excited whenever he sees a baby on TV or in real life and points at them and says baby. He got to hold his new baby cousin Adella at Andy and Jacob's birthday party last weekend. He would hold her for about 5 seconds and say all done then say more and want her back then he was all done and more about 20 times...we are definitely in for some fun times at our house! We have been getting out all of the baby stuff...Paxton has found his new favorite chair for watching his shows!
While my mom was here after Paxton's surgery we got some blankets and a car seat cover made. We also got all the baby clothes washed and put away and actually bought a pack of diapers. Now I feel a little bit more prepared for him to come...good thing too because believe it or not he will be here in less than a month!! We are getting pretty excited!

Paxton's Surgery

Paxton had surgery on March 3rd to remove his tonsils and adenoids and put in a 2nd set of ear tubes...
Here is a before shot of Paxton in his cute little hospital jammies. We had to be at the hospital at 6:30 am and Paxton had to fast from midnight until after the surgery. Surprisingly he didn't ask for his bottle one time! Hanging out with Dad before surgery...his nose must have been bugging him that day...most of the pictures I have of him looks like he is picking his nose!
They came and got Paxton at 7:40 and took him back into surgery...he went with the nurse and didn't even look back.
He was out of surgery by 8:30...Dr. Ence came back and let us know that everything had gone really well and that Paxton's tonsils were actually much bigger and more deeply embedded than he had originally though so I guess it is a good thing we got them out! We went and waited for Paxton up in his room in pediatrics. When they wheeled Paxton in he was just coming out of the anesthesia...the poor boy couldn't figure out what was going on. He cried and cried and his face was so swollen and puffy...finally after a cuddle with Dad and a bottle he settled down enough to watch his show. We knew he was feeling a little bit better when he started naming all of the animals in his movie! We spent a lot of time in the hospital watching TV and cuddling...All was going well in the hospital and we were optimistic that we were going to be able to go home that afternoon. The nurse brought Paxton in a popsicle and he was so excited to eat it! He wanted "more and more" unfortunately i couldn't get it to him fast enough...he got so mad that he held his breath, turned blue, and passed out...his oxygen stats dropping to 50%. Andy and I were freaking out and the nurses came rushing into the room as he was coming out of it. He had a hard time maintaining his oxygen for about 15 minutes after that so they decided to put him on nasal oxygen...which he hated!! Unfortunately our hope of going home that day was out of the question and they kept us there for the night!
He did really well through the night and by the next morning we were all ready to get out of there! The nurse came in at 7:30 am and removed his IV and oxygen sensor...once he could walk around again he was one happy boy and just as excited as we were to get out of there!

We are so grateful for how well everything has gone with this surgery! Since we got home Paxton has spent a lot of time cuddling with mom and dad and watching movies! He is doing surprisingly well...except for when it comes to taking his medicine (it takes 2 of us to hold him down!) He is back to eating soft solid foods today and seems to be getting back to his usual self!!

All Things B

As I was going through the camera yesterday I realized that Paxton is currently obsessed with a lot of things that start with the letter B...coincidence I'm sure because he has no idea what the letter B is! Here are just a few of his current "B" favorites!
Thank you to whoever made this movie and thank you even more to whoever donated a brand new copy of it to the DI (and to Jamie for finding it for me for $1!)...the 20 minutes a day of free time you give me is invaluable to my sanity! This BABY DOLITTLE movie is Paxton's current favorite...he giggles, copies all the words, and best of all holds still for 20 whole minutes! He comes up to me asking for "my show" at least 2 times a day...Another obsession...this BEAR that my Grandma gave to him when he was born. I'm sure this is one of those look but don't touch bears but "Oso" is the first thing he asks for when he wakes up and the last thing he asks for when he goes to bed! Cowboy BOOTS...we found these on clearance at Walmart and couldn't resist! Most of the time you will find Paxton stomping around the house in nothing but a t-shirt, a diaper, and these camo cowboy boots!
Paxton has always been a BOOK lover...lately though he loves them even more because he can imitate all of the words in the books. We have started a new routine where we read the same 3 books every night for a week and usually by the end of the week he is filling in some of the words by himself without us having to help him!
BUBBLES...oh the bubbles...I think we have blown bubbles about 55 times this week alone. He knows right where they are and stands under the cupboard saying "bubbles please" in the cutest little voice over and over and over again until you finally have to give in and just blow the dang bubbles! Oh well easy entertainment...right?
BOXING...Paxton actually calls it "fight"...putting hot pads on his hands and pretend fighting with whoever will play with him. I have no idea where he picked up this little trick because we don't watch boxing or anything like it but it sure is entertaining.
And last but not least...BEING NAUGHTY!! This kid is into everything and everyday it is something new...whether it is making a mess or climbing onto (or into) something he isn't supposed to! Oh...some days he give us a run for our money but he is so entertaining you can't stay mad at him for long!
As I sat typing this I thought of a few other B" things he is into these days...number 1 would have to be the BA-BA. I have no idea how we are ever going to get this kid off the bottle...he loves his ba-ba. Another favorite...BANANAS...Paxton could eat nothing but bananas for every meal and be perfectly happy! Finally...BABIES...he loves babies these days (probably a good thing too since he is getting one at his house in a few weeks!) He points to them on TV and gets really excited when we see a real baby at church or school. Hopefully he will be this enthusiastic about babies when his brother gets here!
He is at such a great age, I just love it!!
