2 Week Well Check Visit

I can't believe that our little boy is 2 1/2 weeks old...the time has flown by!! We took Paxton for his first doctors visit today. He is now 7 pounds 13 ounces (50%) for weight and 20 5/8 inches (60%) for height!! I guess he is eating well! Unfortunately he had to have his PKU test today and I actually think it was worse for me and Andy than it was for Paxton! We love our little guy and are so excited to see what the future brings for our little family!!

Here are some things that we have learned about Paxton in the past 2 1/2 weeks...
  • He loves to be wrapped up and will only eat if he is swaddled.
  • He makes alot of great facial expressions...especially when he sucks in his bottom lip or puckers up his lips.
  • He is just like his mom when it comes to waking up, it takes him a while to decide that he is ready then he has to stretch and moan and groan before he is fully awake.
  • He has his dad's feet, ears, hairline, and skin tone. He has his mom's nose. We are still in debates about his mouth, eyes, and hair (it's constantly changing).
  • He is a major cuddler...which makes his mom and dad really happy!!
  • He has great hair, it is the first thing everybody notices about him, and it spikes into a perfect little mohawk.

Paxton's First Big Boy Bath

After 2 weeks of sponge baths in the sink, we decided to let Paxton have his first bath in the tub before we went to see the doctor. At first he wasn't too sure about the new little bathtub... neither were his mom and dad so we had to try it out on the bed first! And he really wasn't sure about it once we filled the tub with water and especially when we took off his clothes...but surprisingly he only cried for a little bit in the beginning!
Once it was all said and done, and the lotion was applied, I think he actually enjoyed it!!

Best Friends!!

It was a sad day at the Hamberlin House because Andy had to go back to work today. After just a short week Andy and Paxton have an amazing connection...they really are best friends! Here are some highlights of my boys from the past week...
Andy and Paxton snuggling on the couch
Daddy's first diaper change...so far this week I think he has only gotten peed on twice!

Andy comforting Paxton after mean mom made him take a bath.

I LOVE MY BOYS!!

Too Cute Not to Post

Paxton is totally attached to his pacifier, at 2 days old he already knows how to hold it in his mouth and gets so mad at us when we try to take it away!
We got to bring Paxton home from the hospital today!! Here he is in his carseat on the way home...
Here is Paxton in his going home outfit, look closely at the picture, he is definately taking after his dad...

We love our boy's hair, it spikes into a perfect mohawk...sorry everyone it is definately not red like the first picture shows, more of a dirty blond color.

Paxton James Hamberlin

The baby is here!!! Yeah, we finally got to go to the hospital at 6 am and Andy took a nap for a hour while Jaliz was being hooked up to all sorts of gagets. Her water was broken at 8:30 am and she had a fun hour of "real contractions." She then quickly got her epideral and felt alot better...after the epideral she was dialated to 4 1/2, an hour later she was checked and was at a 6. Then we made it through another hour and she was complete and ready to go. The boy wanted to get out as bad as Jaliz wanted him out! Jaliz was amazing, she pushed as hard as possible, she started pushing with the nurse and gave 3 good pushes and Paxton was ready to get out. Then Dr. Anderson came in and gave her some encouragement and she pushed a 2 more times but Paxton was really wanting to come out and his pulse was droping quickly so Dr. Anderson got the vacuum, hooked him up and yanked him out. He is such a cute little guy and we are so excited to have him here with us!

Jaliz is the strongest person i have ever seen. I love you honey and can't waite to take him home with us! More to come...

A quick trip to L&D

We made a little trip to Labor and Delivery tonight (July 8th) and came home with nothing but a hospital bracelet and a paper saying sorry we had to send you home.
My family came up yesterday to spend the day up here in case I went into labor and for meetings and some shopping of course. As they were on their way up from Richfield I had a good hour of hard steady contractions 10 minutes apart and then wham bam the second they walk in the door it stopped. Well today around 5:30 the contractions started up again. This time they hurt worse and were getting as close as 3 minutes apart for a while. I kept procrastinating going to the hospital because I didn't want to be one of '"those women who can't tell if they are in labor or not and get sent home from the hospital after an hour" so we decided to go out to eat with the family before Dad and Jake had to go home. Fast forward 2 hours, 1 dinner where I couldn't really eat anything, and a zillion close painful contractions later we head on up to the hospital ready to get this kid out...we get in the car and are riding to Provo and the contractions start slowing down so we decide to take a little walk and they start speeding up and getting stronger so I'm thinking things are going to be good. Well I get in the bed all suited up and strapped in and...nothing. One hour in labor and delivery and all I get is one and a half really good contractions and no changes, that's it...nothing. The worse part about the whole thing was our sweet nurse kept saying "Oh there is no way you are going to make it to Sunday, we might even see you back here tonight!" That is not exactally what Andy and I wanted to hear.
Now here I sit, one of "those women", typing away at 1:45 in the morning...having terrible contractions.

Waiting on Paxton

I went to the Doctor today totally prepared to break down in tears if he told me that I was still only diatlated to a 2 but luckily no tears were shed!! I am finally at a 3 1/2 and "have a 50% chance of having a baby in the next 24 hours!" according to Dr. Anderson so he stripped my membranes (OUCH!!) and sent me home to walk. I forced my cousin Julie to take a long walk with me along the Provo River Trail and now we play the waiting game. At this moment I am having contractions that are about 10 minutes apart so we will see...
I must have looked pretty desperate to get this baby out because he scheduled me for an induction on Sunday in case Paxton doesn't want to come on his own. So it looks like we will be having a baby sometime this week and we can't wait!!

37/38 Week Update

Went to the doctor yesterday, apparently all my laying around worked because I was only dialated to a 2...dang it. I guess Paxton just wants to stay in there for a little while longer...actually I think he secretly knows that I don't want him to come on the 4th of July and that I want to go to Richfield for the weekend but anytime after that he is more than welcome to come on out!!
