September Via Instagram

Here is a little peak into our lives thanks to our friend Instagram...
"2 new additions to our fridge this week...a picture of Dumbo that Paxton colored for me in church because "that looks just like you mom" and Pax's chart to stop using "potty words" because if I have to hear the words pee, poo, and fart one more time I might go crazy!!"
"We have to stop taking Tegan out to eat...he always ends up breaking something!"
This time it was a menu holder at Brick Oven...last time it was a salt shaker at Los Hermanos!
"University of Utah Volleyball...we love #17"
"The BYU/UTAH rivalry is going strong at our house!  Paxton did get mad at me earlier today and told me that I have to "cheer for the Utes now because I'm being a bad girl."
"Life is just so exhausting when you are 4 and spend the afternoon building castles out of all of our canned food!"
"I am so lucky to live in a house full of superheros!"

Paxton-September in Preschool

Paxton is so glad to be back in preschool...and I am so glad to have him back there!  I feel like these preschool days are quickly dwindling and I want to soak it all in...but then I remind my self that I will have another preschooler next year and then another one 3 years after that so I guess my days in preschool are just starting!
Paxton came home the first day with a Super Star Award for being the best at playing in the sand (probably because that was all he wanted to do all day) and being the best at writing his name!
The first week of preschool was all about the kids...
They got to make their faces...
 Learn about their names...
Check out their unique fingerprints...
Figure out what color their eyes are...
And measure their bodies and feet!
Paxton brings home a packet of things to work on every week...this is by far one of my favorite homeworks he has done yet!  He did this all on his own...I especially love the "big sad eye" and the "angry teeth!"
They also learned about The Little Red Hen!
I love this picture that they made of their hens!
They also got to practice making their own bread by mixing up flour in the sensory bin!  They must have loved it because the flour has been in their for a few weeks now!

Paxton's First Soccer Game

A few of my friends from school, who all have little boys that are Paxton's age, decided to get together and put them on a soccer team.  I was hesitant to sign Paxton up because he is going through a sensitive stage right now...you know how it goes crying when he doesn't get his way, crying when he get's hurt...all the things that happen frequently in soccer.
I am so glad I changed my mind because I am telling you there is nothing better than 4 year old soccer!!
Pax was so excited to buy all his gear, get his blue and gold jersey, and to find out he was on his favorite team "the Cougars!"

The first game came and there was no crying, no whining, nothing...just a lot of ball chasing!  He was right there in the game the whole time, played hard, and most importantly didn't cry once!
And the best part of any soccer game...the post game treats!  Looking forward to a great season Cougars!

Tegan's FIRST Haircut

I have no idea why I procrastinated Tegan's first haircut for so long...maybe because it took us 2 1/2 years to get this much hair.  Maybe because I was delaying the nightmare that usually comes with a first haircut...getting them to sit still for long enough to make it look decent.  Or maybe it was that I was afraid to lose my baby because it seems like once they get that first big haircut they grow-up instantly and are no longer a baby anymore.
Well the time had finally come in our house (after months of talking about it) for us to just get it over with!
Here are some before pictures...
The curls on the back I loved so much!
The length on top...this was some seriously long hair!
And off we went this was not an undertaking I was prepared to take on myself so Thank You Great Clips!   Turns out Tegan is a hair cutting champ...one mention of a sucker at the end  and he was a good as gold!

 The final result...complete with sucker!
Yes he doesn't look like a baby anymore but that's okay we've got another little man coming and maybe this one will have hair!!

Paxton's Preschool Openhouse

Paxton is starting his first year of preschool at East Meadows this year!  He is an old pro by now and sailed through the open house with flying colors!
He picked a new cubby...this year he choose to be on the middle row because he is bigger so of course he has got to move up a little!
He picked a spot in the hall to hang all of his art work...he was bummed that all the blue and red stars were taken (you know Cougars and Utes colors) so he had to settle on green.
After telling me "I already know that Mom" about finding the bathroom, the garbage, the teachers, and the toys, he settled in to do a little art project and decorate a letter P for his name!
3 minutes later the masterpiece was complete and we were ready to start year 2 of preschool...and we can't wait!

Paxton at the Dentist

Paxton also had his first real dentist appointment..after his disastrous eye appointment I was expecting the worst (my teeth) and hoping for the best (Andy's teeth!)
Pax was so good at the appointment...did his X-rays, got his teeth cleaned, and watched a cool movie!

Much to my relief it looks like Paxton was blessed with his Dad's awesome teeth because he had NO cavities!!  He was pretty pleased with his treat bag and even got to ride the mechanical horse outside of the dentist's office!

Paxton Gets Glasses!!

I decided that since Paxton was turning 4 it was time to get him in to the eye doctor for a check-up.  He has passed his previous vision screenings through the school so I was totally planning on going in there and having no problems!
Well I was wrong...I shouldn't be surprised since both Andy and I have vision problems!  Paxton was doing really good until the doctor covered his left eye and asked him to read the letters with his right eye...he couldn't read any of them.  Turns out Paxton has amblyopia in his right eye meaning he has a lazy right eye.  I was shocked but when I look at this picture and other pictures of him (especially when he is outside) he is always squinting that right eye!

First step to correction...glasses!!  Right now his prescription is Left Eye +1.75, Right Eye +4.00 so we are going to try the glasses for awhile to see how much correction they can make in the next 3 months before we think about doing any type of patching.  We also got to buy some pretty fancy prescription sunglasses that he gets to wear whenever he is outside!
He is doing a great job wearing his glasses...I think it shows how much it really helps him because for the most part he always wants to wear them!  This was right after he got his glasses...he looks so dang cute with them on!
After he got his glasses we went in for some more testing to determine how fast his eyes send messages from his eye to his brain and back.  He came back very delayed in both eyes so that is something that we will be working on improving as well!
