April Instagram

April was a busy month...we sure packed in a lot of adventures!
Here is the month in review thanks to Instagram!!
Pax got some new shades!!
These boys love their bathtub crayons...this particular day they were drawing large giraffes!
Every night is an ice cream night at our house!
We spent an afternoon at BYU watching our cousin Erin play volleyball for the Utes!  The boys were mostly interested in the vending machines and taking laps around the indoor track!
Finally warm weather!
And then it got cold again so we spent a lot of time inside.  On this particular night the activity of choice was playdoh...lucky for these boys their dad is awesome at creating things with playdoh!
Andy has been on a winning streak at work and won us an awesome Blendtec blender this month!
I have no words for this style choice...he gets it from his dad!
Break out the jackets again...its snowing in April!
Courtney (the babysitter) has been trying to get rid of her Easter candy by bestowing it upon my children before they leave her house...Tegan can not be trusted to eat a chocolate Easter bunny on his own!
We took an afternoon trip to Toys R Us...Paxton had a serious case of "I want that for MY birthday!"  Apparently he wants almost everything in the store!
 Paxton as a Transformer
While we were at my cousin Hayden's mission farewell dinner, Andy was swinging Tegan on the swings and all of the sudden realized that Tegan had fallen asleep while he was swinging...that silly boy!
The boys have developed a bad habit and think they have to lay on our bed to go to sleep at night...most of the time we can get them back in their bed but on some nights we end up like this and Andy ends up on the couch!
How did we ever shop in peace before the IPAD came along?
Yay, warm weather again!!  Enjoying breakfast outside while Dad mows the lawn!
The first flower Paxton ever gave me!!  Don't worry he followed up with about 30 more!
Movie night at Anita and Jared's
We got to watch Wreck it Ralph out on the deck!
Sunday morning walk along the trail!

Preschool Fun in April!

April was another fun month in Preschool!
For the first few weeks of the month they learned about nursery rhymes!  I was so impressed with how quickly Paxton learned them and he has been reciting them around the house ever since!
During playtime they could dress up as characters from a nursery rhyme...Paxton was the spider from Little Miss Muppet and Teague was Batman (Not quite a nursery rhyme but oh well!!)

In this one he told me he was Jack from Jack be Nimble...and apparently Jack rides horses with his friends!

They also had a week where they learned about going to the dentist and taking care of their teeth!
They got to practice flossing using legos and playdoh...
They also dripped some root beer on a tooth and talked about how it made stains on their teeth.  The next day they used a toothbrush and toothpaste (white paint) to brush the stains away!

Thanks again to Nicole, Jean, and Dana for making preschool such a fun rewarding experience for Paxton!!

1st Stitches

We got to have our first experience with stitches today!  Paxton was at the babysitter's house and another little boy threw a matchbox car and it hit Paxton on the head.  The cut was pretty small but he must have thrown it at just the right angle because it was about as deep as a head wound could go and as is typical with any head wound...it bleed a lot!  I decided to take him to the doctor as a precaution and they determined that it needed to be stitched in order for it to heal properly and avoid infection.
Here is his head before stitches but after it had been cleaned off!
Because they couldn't (or didn't want to) give him a shot they numbed his head with some numbing gel.  Unfortunately they had to do 4 applications of the gel and wait about 10 minutes in between each application...we had a lot of time to hang out at the doctors office!
We found a box of superhero bandaids to put on Paxton's owies...
and watched Despicable Me...one of our favorites!!
Finally they came in...stitched him up and we were good to go!  He was such a brave boy and didn't even cry once...he was more concerned with his movie than what was going on with his head!
Afterwards we treated ourselves to a little lunch for a job well done!
*Note to Self...never call your husband and tell him his son got hit by a car and just needed a few stitches...he will panic!

Tegan Turns 2

It has been 2 years since we welcomed this sweet little stinker into our home!  I know I say this all of the time but I really truly can't believe how fast the time has gone!  Tegan has changed so much in the past year!  Here is a little bit about our Tegs at 2 years old!
He is a big boy!!  At his 2 year well check he weighed 26.8 pounds (49%) and was 35 inches tall (64%.)  He has had 10 plus ear infections and 1 set of tubes...amazingly they have stayed in for almost a year which for our family is a pretty big deal! He wears size 2T clothes, size 6 diapers, and size 5 or 6 shoes!
Tegan has never had a haircut...he was born pretty bald and it has taken 2 years for him to get a full head of hair.  We keep debating on cutting it but I am a little attached to his comb over in the front and his little curl in the back so we will probably have to wait for a while!
Tegan is a talker...a non stop talker.  He mimics everyone in our house!  Everyday we have a routine when I pick him up from the babysitter.  I ask him, "How was your day?"  and is response is always, "Good, racecars, Hannah, Sagie, hotdogs, chips, night night."  Which means good, I played racecars with Hannah and Sage, ate hotdogs and chips, and took a nap!
Tegan loves to sing songs...right now his favorites are Popcorn Popping on an Apricot Tree, Wiseman Built his House on a Rock, ABC's, and I am a Child of God.  He loves to read books and is obsessed...honestly could read it 100 times...obsessed with The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
Tegan is pretty smart (thanks to the IPAD!) He can tell you about 14/26 letter names, about 7/26 letter sounds, can identify 7/10 numbers, and can count to 5 pretty consistently...we need to add some more color and shapes apps because he doesn't know those yet!
Tegan is a "little bit" on the stubborn side!  When he sets his mind to something...he is determined that it is going to happen!  I hope this works to his advantage one day...not the other way around!  Some examples of this include:
He won't eat dinner
He won't go to sleep in his bed
If he wakes up in the middle of the night...it has to be Mom to come get him and he as to be rocked back to sleep
He wants to be a big boy and walk where ever we go
Tegan has a lot of favorites and is selective about what he likes...some of these favorites include:
Stuff: the IPAD or Dad's phone, his brother, being outside, bath time, and wrestling with his dad
Foods: chicken nuggets, chocolate milk, cereal, yogurt, all fruit, all treats, pancakes, french toast, and ice cream
Shows: Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Sid the Science Kid, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Doc McStuffins
We love you Tegs!!

Spring Break fun with Friends!

During Spring Break we wend to Lowes Extreme Trampoline Park with our friends the Hughes!  Teague and Colt go to the same babysitter as Paxton and Tegan and their mom Lindsey teaches at my school!
The boys had a great time and became little daredevils!!

March...via Instagram

Since I finally caved and upgraded to an IPhone I decided I should give Instagram a try...and of course I love it!!  It is just like Facebook but without all those annoying ads...plus it is awesome for documenting those little life events that don't require an entire blog post!
So here is our Instagram update for the month of March!
Ice Cream is definitely a favorite in this house!
Paxton found a paintbrush in the junk drawer and was begging to paint something...luckily I had some of these Spiderman paint with water pages in the craft cupboard.  I loved these when I was a kid!
I have no words for this picture except that never in my life did I think I would be in a store with my kid dressed in a costume with his stuffed animal who is also dressed in a costume.  All these things I said I would never do...then I had kids!
Tegan is such a mess maker...not the kind of cereal he wanted so what does he do empty it out on the floor of course!
Paxton and I were making pizza rolls the other day and Pax was putting on the pepperoni...I went to roll this one up and noticed this!
Poor Tegan...he has had a rough month.  He had croup, pink eye and an ear infection all in the span of 5 days.
Homework Time...we LOVE our dot markers, makes homework faster and definitely more fun!
We got to go to Donkey Basketball for a high school fundraiser for my cousin Corbin (that isn't him but I didn't get a good picture of him.)  It was pretty entertaining to see all these crazy high school kids try to play basketball while riding donkeys...the boys were pretty fascinated!

Paxton made up his own version of Donkey Basketball!
We celebrated Easter in style!
