Luckily Tegan's birth story is pretty uneventful but for journaling purposes I thought I better get it written down before I forgot!
I begged Dr. Anderson to schedule me for an induction at 39 weeks, lucky for us that fell on April 13th, Andy's Grandma Cannon's birthday! We didn't have to go to the hospital until noon so we spent the morning anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby boy!
We arrived at Mountain View Hospital in Payson and realized that we had forgotten to pre-register, so by the time we got all the paperwork done and all set up in our room it was about 1:00. At 1:15 they started the poticin and antibiotics (for Group B strep.) We were a little nervous because I had to have antibiotics for 4 hours before I delivered and I had a quick delivery with Paxton so we were just hoping that I could get all the antibiotic I needed before I delivered Tegan. Dr. Anderson came in at 2:30 and decided to wait and break my water until I had had more antibiotics. I decided to get my epidural around 3:30 and was dialated to a 6 by 4:30. Dr. Anderson finally came in around 5:15 and broke my water!! I dialated to a 9 pretty fast from there but then got stuck at a 9 for a while. Finally at 6:20 I was complete and ready to push. 4 contractions later...Tegan Drew Hamberlin was born at 6:39 pm!!
When he came out we were all quite surprised at how small he was and how bald he was!! Tegan weighed in at 6 pounds 8 ounces and was 20 inches long. He came out and cried for a little bit but then was calm and quiet and has been ever since!!
Tegan is a sweet, quiet, laid back baby and we love having him as a part of our family!!
